Chapter Eight

"Brrr, we should have brought coats before coming over here.." John muttered as they entered the frozen wasteland. "Ah!! What was that?!"

High above flew a large, black dragon. "You think that might be one of those guardian guys? Let's follow it!" Paul replied, rushing after it.

Along the way they encountered more Rhynocs along with some new ape monsters. "That Gaul is gonna pay when he meets us! Heehee, Spyro's burning them good!"

But then there was trouble, in the form of a fireproof gate. "Might be electric powered. Wish I had some balloons to make static with."

But Spryo wasn't having any of it. As he tried to bring up more fire, something new came around. A sharp zap of lightning came right out of his mouth, deactivating the gate. "I know fire and sparks?"

"Maybe that's what's so special about purple dragons, all the other dragons only used either fire or ice. I bet you can do anything!"

Giggling, the little dragon charged in. Traveling through the dark caves was no problem with his fire breath lighting the way. "Hey, I think I see a light! Hopefully it's one of those guardian guys we gotta find."

Once emerging from the dark, they found not one, but two dragons. One was golden with blue belly scales, above it stood a black dragoness, but that wasn't all. Attached to her tail was a very familiar face, or at least a torso. "George?!"

"Believe me, I dunno what to make of this either. I was trying to push her out of the way and ended up stuck on her tail! Ripto forced her to age up and round up these guys he calls the guardians."

With the shock of seeing their youngest mate fused together with a dragon, she took to attack immediately. "Ignore the nuisance on my tail, he'll be gone once I have all I need."

Not wanting to see his caretaker in pain, he was quick to charge into her. She quickly retaliated with a loud ear piercing screech.

"Ah!! John doesn't that sound like your stalker ex?"

"Ex?! She's just a friend, Cyn's my real wife here!"

"Hrmph, I have no time to deal with you."

"Hey!! At least give us George!" Paul shrieked, reaching for his hand. "Aw dammit, she got away."

"But she left the other dragon here, maybe he can help us get our Georgie back. And I bet she was the last dragon we needed to find."

"Too bad the short red guy got to her first. But I thought he hated dragons? I wonder what he has to gain from her, and why he kept her with George. If he knows all that magic he should have-"

"Probably so we wouldn't try to fight back without hurting him. Speaking of hurting, he's starting to come around."

"Oh my! I can't believe I have been saved by a purple dragon, and it seems he's not alone. How wonderful! Here was thinking I would have to find my way back all by my lonesome and-"

"Sheesh, he's sure got a lightning mouth. Look it's great you think of us as heroes and all but we sorta got a tight schedule here."

"Oh yes certainly, we must make haste home at once. And of course it must have been tiring of you three to walk all the way here, seeing your lack of flight appendages you have. I'm surprised it didn't take you all year to find me."

"Well it almost did, seeing this story isn't as well known."
