Chapter Eight

A Night To Remember

Amaris POV:

Where the fuck am I?

Amaris had no clue where in Clouded City she was. Her height spell had also worn off a few minutes after exiting the abandoned warehouse. She did remember seeing some buildings when she passed by them; She just couldn't remember the names.

She did, however, remember that there was a bakery and a flower shop nearby. Maybe she could figure her way out from there. Amaris walked around with confusion. All of the bright neon lights of the shops hurt her eyes. Wasn't that a symptom of something?

Amaris walked along the sidewalk. Her arms itched. Some cars passed by her and she seemed to be getting nowhere. She was going to give up. What's the point if I can't find it? Maybe it was farther up. She saw a crosswalk a few steps ahead.

Suddenly a car stopped to her left. Amaris leaned down. The window rolled down to reveal an elf monster. She was wearing a light blue shirt with dark blue jeans. Her dark blonde hair was tied up in a nice bun. The elf looked at her with Light Brown eyes.

"Excuse me? Do you need a ride?". The elf asked her as she blinked at her. There was a slight British accent to her voice. Not too strong but subtly there. Amaris was confused. She could find the place herself. She didn't need a elf's help! She could help herself just fine!

"No thanks...". Amaris just stared at the elf as she rolled up the window. The car slowly drove away as she reached the crosswalk. She pressed the button as cars slowly passed by.

It felt like forever until the crosswalk light turned green. The cars came to a stop and she walked awkwardly to the other side. Amaris continued walking until she finally saw the flower shop. It was a place called Silent Silk. Hadn't Charlotte mentioned this place?

She looked at the window. The bright neon sign hurt her eyes a bit. There were times for when the place closed. She scanned the sign until she found Friday. It closes at....eight o clock. Good, I have time. I think... Amaris opened the door and heard a small chime of bells. She ducked through the doorway and went in.

Amaris immediately looked around for a clock. She found one behind the counter. It read five twenty three. Had she really been chasing that skeleton for an hour? Maybe another hour had passed while she was finding her way around.

She looked around and her eyes locked onto the monster behind the counter. He was a spider with his black hair slicked back. There were a few streaks of grey in his hair. His clothes seemed casual. He wore a Black button down shirt with some Gray pants. Four of his arms seemed to be organizing something. His other two were idle.

Amaris walked up to the counter. The place was strangely empty at this time. Is anyone else in the store? Where is everyone? Amaris asked herself. The spider seemed nervous as she approached him. Probably because a seven foot six monster just walked into his store.

"Welcome to Silent Silk, how can I help you?". The spider asked her with a soft tone. Almost like a mourning dove. Amaris looked around at the flowers.

Which ones did Charlotte like again? Oh right, the Steam flowers and Buttercups. Maybe the Steam flowers were better. Her favorite color was yellow though...

Yellow it was. "Can I have a... bundle of buttercups?". Amaris asked the spider. She had forgotten the word for a thing of wrapped flowers. In Dranoa it was Fiaore Torbuana, which meant flower bag or bag of flowers.

He smiled and nodded. He walked out from behind the counter. The florist grabbed an assortment of yellow flowers, walked back to the counter and scanned it.

"That will be fifteen dollars please". The spider said as he gently laid the Fiaore Torbuana on the counter. Amaris' eyes widened at the realization that she didn't have her wallet with her. Doing this might've not been the best idea... "I've.... got to go get my wallet. Be right back". Amaris told the spider behind the counter as she made a circular motion with her right hand.

She appeared in her room and looked to her two drawers on her bedside table. She knew she left it here somewhere. Amaris opened the first drawer. There was some random papers with numbers on it. Something about finishing it later although it never got finished. I knew I had something to do! Maybe later. Amaris paused with her thoughts. I know I won't.

What's this? Amaris picked up a granola bar. It was still in the wrapper. The front of it read Chewy. It had chocolate chips in it. She'd forgotten to throw this out. She saved it for one of Charlotte's friends but forgot to bring it to school, then forgot about it all together.

She closed the bottom drawer and opened the top drawer. Sitting on top of a bunch of jumbled papers was her wallet. Amaris yoinked up her wallet and made a portal back to Silent Silk.

Winfried was still waiting for her when she came through the portal. Amaris glanced at the spider behind the counter. He was still waiting.

She opened her wallet and pulled out a twenty. Amaris placed it on the counter. She slid it towards him. "Keep the change. I don't have time for that". Amaris demanded to Winfried as she walked out of the store and ducked on her way out.

Amaris looked around and made a portal to Charlottes' house. All that running and walking had hurt her feet. She felt a change in the air as she stood in front of Charlottes house. Maybe because her house had that comfortable energy around it.

She walked up to the door and knocked on it. Amaris held the flowers gently as to not harm them. She hadn't realized how hard knocking hurt. Maybe she was knocking too hard. A nice looking woman opened the door. She was lightly mixed with light blonde hair. She had light brown eyes. A shade lighter than Charlottes.

This woman was Irina, Charlotte's mom. She was pretty nice. Her dad was pretty cool too. His name was Jarred. He was black and had viltilgo and was darker than Irina. The viltilgo only affected his hands and arms. That did mean he had to cover his arms whenever he went into the sun.

Amaris awkwardly stood there for a moment before Irina ushered her inside. "Come in! Come in! What're you doing out at this hour? You were supposed to be here two hours ago!". Irina scolded as she led her towards a table. Amaris looked down in shame.

"I....had some stuff to do. Hey, at least I didn't get stabbed by some random knife in my back!". Amaris joked. Irina looked at her concerned. She took off her shoes and placed them by the door. She handed her a cookie. It was lemon flavored. Not too bad.

Amaris grabbed the flowers and walked up the stairs and down the hall to Charlottes room. She was trying to be as quiet as possible. She succeeded because she had taken off her shoes at the door. She walked down the hallway and stood in front of Charlotte's room.

Amaris slowly opened the door and let it swing open. When the door stopped, she saw Charlotte turn towards her. Amaris walked into the room and closed the door behind her. She made sure to lock it.

"Amaris! You came! What took you so long?". Charlotte asked Amaris quietly. Amaris gave Charlotte the flowers. She stared at them before she set them down on the bedside table. She turned on the lamp on her bedside table. Amaris turned her head away from the lamp. She saw a look of worry cross Charlotte's face. What was she worried about? It's not like she was going feral.

"I... got lost in town. I though I recognized someone from somewhere so I chased after them..". Amaris admitted to Charlotte. Charlotte made room in her bed and patted the empty spot. Amaris joined Charlotte in the bed. She felt as Charlotte pulled the covers over the two of them.

She was about to fall asleep when she felt Charlottes tail curl around her right leg. If Charlotte had wings, Amaris was pretty sure she would've wrapped them around her. Her tail was making its way upwards. Amaris felt her face grow hot. She moved herself so that her left leg wedged itself between Charlotte's legs. "Is this alright with you?". Amaris asked Charlotte.

Charlotte nodded as she looked up at her. "Yea, I've missed you..". Charlotte told Amaris. Amaris laughed softly as she slowly put her hand under Charlotte's shirt. She watched as Charlotte tried to squirm towards her. Amaris moved her hand away from underneath Charlotte's shirt. Charlotte quickly moved herself on top of Amaris. Charlotte was now straddling Amaris by her waist. Not that she minded.

Amaris was slightly bigger than Charlotte now. Charlotte seemed to notice that her legs were now dangling over the edge of the bed. "Are you uncomfortable with your legs like this?". Charlotte asked her. Amaris just stared. I don't want her to move, if she moves... I might break the bed. Actually that's a bad idea.. Amaris just shook her head. She heard a click from her right as the lamp turned off.

Charlotte began to continue to straddle her before her tail slowly unraveled itself from her leg. She watched as it slowly curled similar to a chameleon. She looked towards her door and blushed. "Is something wrong Lett?". Amaris asked Charlotte as she moved from her waist to her right side.

"Well.. my parents room is across from this one and the guest room is right there". Charlotte admitted to Amaris as she pointed to the wall at the end of the bed. She glanced at her. "What's wrong with that?". Amaris asked Charlotte as she felt her tail flick underneath the covers.

Charlotte stared at her as she blushed softly. "The walls are kind of thin..". She told her. Her butter Yellow walls were slightly bright from the light outside. She rolled her eyes. "What's wrong with that?". Amaris joked softly.

"Amaris Siven Alyona! How dare you! We can do that later!". Charlotte whisper scolded Amaris as she cuddled with her. According to Charlotte, later meant a few seconds after she said that. Not that she complained, she was the one struggling, not Charlotte.

They had both agreed to not speak of this to anyone else. Mostly out of embarrassment and to save the awkwardness at the table.
