In the year 5.5/Apple/26, on New Earth, a young girl named Rose was about to go to bed, but before she did, she had one request.
"Mom, please tell me a story," she said.
"It's late, darling, you should sleep," her mother replied.
"But I'm not tired at all! Please?"
"Alright, I think we have time for a short one. Hm. Do you want to hear the Comet's Tale?"
"Of course! I just asked for a story, didn't I?"
"Okay, here it goes. A long long time ago, when humans still lived on Earth, they made a shocking discovery.
It all started when they saw a comet. At first they through it was just another normal comet, like all the others they had seen over the years. But, they day after spotting the comet, they saw it again. And the day after, and for several weeks after that. It seemed to have started to orbit Earth."
"That's not normal, is it?" asked Rose.
"You're right, it's not normal. Which is why the humans of Earth were very confused. So, the smartest scientists worked together to build a ship. A ship that could approach the comet, and examine it. It was a tough job, they had to use all the right materials to make sure it could get really close to the comet. Once it was ready, they gathered the most experienced humans they could find to form the crew. Once the ship and the crew was ready, they left to go examine this mysterious comet."
"So? What happened?"
"Calm down, Rose. I'm getting there. The ship approached the unusual comet. Once they were really close, they entered the comet's tail."
"I don't understand, I thought a tail meant something different."
"A tale, t-a-l-e, is a story, that's the word in the story's name. A tail, t-a-i-l, is what's behind the comet, what the ship is entering now."
"Oh, okay. I get it. Keep going!"
"Well, the ship was in the comets tail. And that's when they realized something, it wasn't a comet at all! It was something they'd never seen before, it was something... extraterrestrial. An alien ship."
"But everyone knows about aliens!"
"Remember, Rose, this was a long time ago," the little girl's mom answered. "And this was the first time that humans had encountered aliens."
"Oh, right."
"Now, where was I? Ah, yes. They saw the alien technology, and they couldn't believe their eyes. So, naturally, they approached the unknown ship. And as soon as the aliens inside saw the human ship approaching, they activated their tractor beam. The tractor beam dragged the smaller ship into the docking bay of the big alien one. No one knows what exactly happened in the ship, but most people think that the aliens offered their help to the humans, and that they showed us New Earth, to make sure we would have another planet to go to when the sun expands."
"Isn't that happening soon?" Rose wondered.
"It is. In a few weeks, the Earth will be destroyed. Only the richest people will be able to watch from Platform One, but we can see it on Holo-TV."
"Okay. But, back to the story. Is that the end?"
"Yes. I don't want you going to bed too late,"
"Really? That's the end?" Rose asked, disappointed.
"Well, there is one more thing I could add," her mom replied.
"What?"
"Some say that this mysterious alien species will always be ready to help us in times of need. So if you ever need help, just remember this story, and ask the aliens."
