#TalentTeusday -- my talents (three max)

First, I'd like to clarify that my talents are God-given and cultivated by my amazing parents, and I can't take credit on my own for any of them.

I suppose, writing. Writing avidly for ten years has to produce SOME results. (And it looks great on query letters when you have literally nothing else impressive to say about yourself XD)

Memorization may be the most natural of my talents. I have a fairly retentive brain when I come across something several times, and I've always been able to easily memorize passages for the short-term. That last aspect isn't great all the time, since it means I tend to put off Sunday School verses until the last minute...

genuinely unsure what the current state of my memorization abilities are, but I will not swear they're as good as they used to be

When I was ten years old, I started taking piano lessons from my adored Sunday School teacher. Two years later, she married and moved away, and I helped fill the gap for our missing pianist by playing one service a month. I had no idea why visitors came up to gush volubly over me after the service. (Now that I have seen pictures of my twelve-year-old self, I know. I was four and a half feet tall, thin as a rail and looked like ten or eleven.)

So yes, piano seems to be a talent... though I'm pretty sure most of it was just motivation. I didn't even know how motivated I was then. I assumed everyone wanted to learn it as much as I did. Foolish youth...

a lot of my life has been me being accidentally good at stuff and having people gush over me and then phasing out of the "accelerated child prodigy"/not progressing in general and wondering when I'll let everyone down

definitely not about to waste an hour of my life trying to come up with three more talents

talent is a weird concept though, I could spend an hour going into the philosophy of what precisely comprises talent and probably get sidetracked into copyright or something and anyway I'm not really up for that so enjoy me sounding extremely smart and like I know what I'm doing when I really don't
