~Tia's P.O.V~

I decided to go back to the hotel and change from my Premiere clothes. I put on some high waisted light blue jeans, a mustard color turtleneck shirt, with some thigh high flat heeled boots, and a black peacoat. I came out my room and Tupac was standing with different attire as well. He had on a black turtleneck with black jeans.

"Why is it that when people see two people of the opposite gender together, they automatically think they're together or messing around?" I asked Tupac. When we actually spoke to each other for more than five minutes on New Years day I straight up told him I not looking for a partner or someone to sleep with. He was a bit offended, but was happy that I was up front about it.

"I can't be hypocritical because I be thinking the same thing, when I see two people of the opposite gender together." He shrugged, "That's just the way it is... Yo, you know that was Jodeci right?"

"What the heck is a Jodeci?"

"They a music band! It's four of them. Yo ass must be living under a rock?"

"I don't really listen to new school music and you know that. I'm getting more into it though." I told him shrugging.

"They been hitting on the radio since last year though, they get hella radio play."

"Mmm," I shrugged my shoulder, not really caring.

"You sure YOU wanna go to that party? People finna act a fool, especially me. Plus, I know you gon' be sitting or standing in the corner ALONE after about ten minutes." We left and made our way to the elevator.

"What kinda of person would I be to not go? Again, I was part of production. Also, it's a good way to market. There WILL be other black writers and producers there. When I feel like leaving I will do just that," I said in a "duhhh" tone.

The elevator stopped on a couple floors, letting people in and out. The elevator stopped on another floor, and GUESS WHO shows up!? That racist white bitch from New Years. That's what I know the dude that caught me, he was with her that day. As soon as she walked in she looked at Tupac seductively. He saw and his eyes shifted to me, letting me know he noticed. Then it was just us and the racist bitch in the elevator after some other people stepped off. She stepped from the other side of the elevator to come closer to us.

"Aren't you that rapper guy from TV?" She asked him.

"Something like that..." Tupac trailed.

"OH my God, I love your music! Especially that song about the boys in the hood always being hard." She smirked at him.

"I am a rapper that was on t.v. but that song ain't me at all."

"No? You look like one of them. How why don't we test that theory?"

"What theory?" He said a bit confused.

"The one about the hood boys always being hard..." She giggled and came closer to Tupac.

"Erm...Nah I'm good on that sweetheart."

"You sure, I'll put you to sleep."

"I said, I'm good." He said putting his arm around my waist to pull me closer. I got the hint and went along with it and put my hand over his. She moved her head and saw me.

"Ughh, this black bitch nigger again." She scoffed loudly. I was about to say something but Tupac beat me to it.

"Yo, what the fuck did you just say!? Fuck are you? First you tryna rub up on me, a black man, then you wanna disrespect a black woman because YOU got rejected. Ian letting that shit ride! News flash all black people don't look alike, you entitled BITCH. You jealous because she look better than you, or something!?" He was very angry at this point turning to her.

She remained quiet, with a shocked expression on her face. The elevator stopped and she silently walked away.

The limo was rented for the Movie Premiere ONLY. So we caught a cab to the after-party.

"Thank you," I told him once we entered the cab.

"I wasn't gon' let that shit ride, she must got us fucked up all the way. That type of shit males me angry. How you gon' be racist but tryna sleep with a black man?" He said loudly still angry, causing the driver to jump a bit.

I put my hand on his shoulder, and quietly said, "Calm down, you gon' get us killed, you got the driver scared."

I then continued, "Unlike you other black men take the bait of the white woman, even when she's openly racist. They wear racist white women on their arm like a badge of honor. Folks be thinking since she's with them they aren't gonna be racist towards them. When they get angry sure enough, that 'N' word flies out their mouth as quick as any other word. That and false accusations against them. You are a person who actually STANDS by what they say, and now I got even more respect for you!"

"You right, and imma ALWAYS stand by what I say." He twisted his lips.

"A'ight then." I said and we both starting cracking up hard, for no particular reason.

We finally made it to the after party. Tupac paid the cab driver and we went straight inside ignoring the paps. It wasn't as packed as I thought it'd be, but there were still a lot of people. We spotted G Shock, Money-B, Chopmaster J, Safiir and a few others apart of Digital Underground.

"What's up," Tupac said dapping them up.

"Shiiit, nothing much! What up T?" Shock said bumping fist with me. I hate shaking hands, people don't wash their hands. I will fist bump though, it's cleaner than actually touching hands.

"Nothing, much. We just got here." I shrugged.

"No shit, Sherlock. We saw y'all walk in." Kel said, which caused us all to laugh. They began to converse, Tupac told them about what happened at the hotel.

"Shii, y'all know I love white girls. They irresistible If I was you I would have went along with it. Them black girls be having some nasty ass attitudes!" G Shock said laughing. I stood there, shaking my head, with a look on my face.

"Did you not just here what I said? That thing that identify as a woman, had nothing but attitude, tried to rub up on me and called her a nigga WITH the 'er'. You dumb as fuck for saying that." Tupac replied.

"So? She ain't called you one." G Shock replied. At this point I just walked away and headed to the food area.

I thought he was a cool dude, and cute. He turned that from sugar to shit in a span of five minutes. I don't know why it makes me angry, because at this point I'm used to hearing black dudes say things like that. They had all the different types of food and there was a bar here. As I was grabbing a bottled water, I felt a presence behind me, but continued with what I was doing.

"Hi," the person said clearing their throat.

I turned around and met with the same dude that caught me earlier. "Hello," I smiled at him.

"Uhh, how's it going," he asked awkwardly.

"I'm fine, and you?"

"I'm doing great." We stood there awkwardly.

"Okay..." I quietly said and began to walk away, only for him to follow me.

"I uhhh- never caught your name." He said from my left side.

"That's because you never asked. I'm Tia, and you are?" I chuckled awkwardly.

"Donal- uhh I mean DeVanté. DeVanté Swing. Nice to meet you," he held his hand out for me to shake. I held my fist out for him to bump it, which he did.

"It's nice to meet you too. So, what do you do for a living?" I asked knowing he wanted to engage in a full blown conversation.

"I- I work," he stuttered.

"That's great." I said with a tight awkward smile with both of my eyebrows raised. I made my way to a corner. Again, he followed. Stalker much? I noticed Gregory Abbott's 'Shake You Down' was on and have been playing for a minute.

"I'm sorry, I'm a musician. I'm actually in an R&B quartet called Jodeci, with the guys you saw me with earlier. What do you do?" He apologised. That's right Tupac did tell me that earlier.

"I'm a writer, and director. Actually I wrote the film we just watched."

"Did you? That was a good movie. Have you done any other movies?"

"Yes, actually I did this one film by the name of 'The Five Heartbeats'."

"I remember watching that last year. That movie was good. You did a good job with that."

"Yeah, thanks." I smiled.

"Hey, would you like to--" he got cut off.

"DeVanté! DeVanté! I know you hear me!" I heard a womans voice from across the room yelled out. It was different white girl from New Years. People turned towards her making her way near us.

"SHIT!" He cursed lowly.

"I got yo baby! When you gon' stop playing and take care of your baby." She said as she stopped in front of him, with the baby on her hip. He had was at least three. He had white blonde hair like he came straight from the Caucuses Mountains. He is adorable though, but I digress.

"Mary J," he said shocked. "I ain't got no kids by you! We took the DNA test." He doesn't look like he has an ounce of black in him, but that's none of my business.

I laughed silently, a whole mess. I know he's HIGHLY embarrassed. I'm embarrassed for him. I walked away, sat at a table and drunk some water from the bottle.

"That DNA test don't mean shit! He's your son!" She yelled. I tuned out on what she was saying, until I heard security.

"How she get in!?" A security guard yelled. Two security guards came and escorted her out, as she continued to throw jabs at that DeVanté character. He had his hand on his forehead. People bagan to do whatever it was they were doing before.

I'm honestly ready to go, so I got up and made my way over to Tupac to tell him I was leaving.

"But, you only been here for 20 minutes." He said.

"I know but, I'm getting tired and its late."

"Want me to come with you?"

"Nahh, I'll be fine. Besides I handle mines." I said putting my hand on my hip.

"Okay, I'll catch you later then," he nodded getting the notion that I was strapped. I left out the building. As soon as I made it out I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was SPIKE LEE! Wow!

"You're Tia, right? The one who worked on the 'Juice'." He asked me.

"Yes, that's me."

"I loved the film, I was wondering would you like to work with me.

It would be an honor to do so, but I didn't tell him that I'm in business mode. "Yes, I would love to work with you."

We exchanged numbers. "When my assistant/sister answers, just say I gave you a movie deal and we have to talk business."

"When do I call?"

"Whenever you are free."

"Okay, will do. Have a nice day." I said and we parted ways he went inside as I hailed a cab back to the hotel.

~DeVanté's P.O.V~

I was tired of them jiving on me about this girl. "Man, fuck y'all!" I angrily said startling them.

"We just messing around man. CHILL!" JoJo said.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah swallow a nut. All three of y'all." I pointed to all three of them.

"ONLY if you do it first." Dalvin said. We all laughed.

"This dude..." K-Ci said shaking his head.

"You good now, bro?" Dalvin asked.

"I'm chill." I folded my arms.

Killing the ignition, the car came to a complete stop. We all hopped out, I locked the doors. We walked into the building. The music was bumping. I looked around for someone in particular.

The boys were talking to each other, I nodded saying adding in some yeah's and oh'. Then I saw her walk in with Pac. They walked over to a group of people, they talked for a minute before I saw Tia walk away with an annoyed expression. She walked to the table full of food,

"Yo, where you going?" K-Ci asked, I continued to walk away. As I made my way to her. Gregory Abbott's 'Shake You Down' came on, how ironic.

🎶 Girl, I been watching you
From so far across the floor, now baby
That's nothing new🎶

"Hi," I said clearing my throat.

She turned around and I was met with those same big dark brown eyes.

🎶 I see that look in your eyes🎶

"Hello," she smiled at me.

"Uhh, how's it going," I asked awkwardly scratching my the back of my head.

🎶And you know, ooh girl that I'm not shy
I'm glad you picked up, on my telepathy, now baby🎶

That's a lie, I'm being shy as fuck right now!

"I'm fine, and you?"

"I'm doing great." We stood there awkwardly.

"Okay..." Tia quietly said and began to walk away, so I followed her.

🎶You're in my mind
Girl I want to shake you down
I can give you all the lovin' you need
Come on let me take you down
We'll go all the way to heaven🎶 Gregory Abbott continued to play.

I uhhh- never caught your name." I said standing on her left side.

🎶Ooh, I been missin' you🎶

How do I miss someone I just met?

"That's because you never asked. I'm Tia, and you are?" She laughed awkwardly.

"Donal- uhh I mean DeVanté. DeVanté Swing. Nice to meet you," I held my hand out for her to shake. She held he fist out, which I bumped.

"It's nice to meet you too. So, what do you do for a living?" She asked sparking the conversation.

"I- I work," I stuttered. De, you over here sounding like a straight bitch right now! Man up! MAN UP!

"That's great." She said with a tight awkward smile with both of her eyebrows raised. She made my way to a corner, and I followed her again. Stalker much?

"I'm sorry, I'm a musician. I'm actually in an R&B quartet called Jodeci, with the guys you saw me with earlier. What do you do?" I apologised.

"I'm a writer, and director. Actually I wrote the film we just watched."

"Did you? That was a good movie. Have you done any other movies?" Smoothe...

Yes, actually I did this one film by the name of 'The Five Heartbeats'.", she responded.

"I remember watching that last year. That movie was good. You did a good job with that."

"Yeah, thanks." She smiled. Pretty ass smile!

"Hey, would you like to--" I got cut off by someone calling my name.

"DeVanté! DeVanté! I know you hear me!" the room yelled out. It was different white girl from New Years. People turned towards her, as she was making her way

I turned around, "SHIT!" cursed lowly at I who I saw. Here she go with this shit again. I ain't seen her in about two years now.

"I got yo baby! When you gon' stop playing and take care of your baby." Mary Jane said as she stopped in front of me, with her baby. The baby she keeps claiming is mine but clearly ain't.

"Mary J," I said still shocked. "I ain't got no kids by you! We took the DNA test."

"That DNA test don't mean shit! He's your son!" She yelled. This woman is bat shit crazy

"You gon' take care of the baby! He look just like your ugly ass!"

"How she get in!?" A security guard yelled.

The two security guards came and escorted her out, as she continued to throw jabs at me.

I placed my hand on my forehead, embarrassed. People bagan to do whatever it was they were doing before. I stood there for a minute. The boys came up to me.

"You, good bro?" Dalvin ask putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah," I said shaking my head. Then I remembered, "Tia..."

I looked around but she was nowhere to be found. So, I walked up to Pac.

"Yo, Pac!" I said dapping him up.

"What up, padna?"

"Where yo homegirl go?"

"Who? Tia?" He asked and I nodded.

"She left about five minutes ago. Why, what YOU want with her?" Pac laughed.

"I was just speaking to her, and after all that happened I looked and she went M.I.A."

"Oh, yeah. She dipped!"

"Okay, thank you." I walked away. Gregory Abbott's 'Shake You Down" came to an end. Michael Jackson's 'She's Out of My Life' came on this sad ass music is not helping the situation!

Now, I probably won't get another chance with her, even if I were to see her again. I fucked up, well Mary did. She messed it up for me. Coming up here with a cocaine baby claiming it's mine when I know it isn't. When she birthed him I though he was mine just a light skinned mixed baby. When the baby got a bit older, he grew into his features, which were NOTHING similar to mines. I found out when he turned ten months that he wasn't mine. It broke my heart but it is what it is.

"Come on y'all, let's go." I told Dalvin, K-Ci, and JoJo.

"What? We just got here 45 minutes ago." JoJo asked.

"Let's go!" I said through clenched teeth.

"Man, you got me fucked up," K-Ci said. "Don't get mad at us because you mad."

"Fine, then stay yo ass here! I'm the one with the keys." I told him angrily. I walked out and sure enough they followed me.

I hopped in the car and they followed suit quietly.

"You sweating ol' girl harder than I thought." K-Ci said shaking his head.

"Hmmph," I replied and drove off silently.

When we got to the hotel I went straight to my room, closed the door, sat down, and sparked a blunt. What a fucking day! I laid back on the bed exhaling the drug.
