jungwon had one hand on the wheel, the other holding hyejin's. he wasn't too sure of where they were going, he just knew that hyejin wanted to go on a late night drive. who was he to say no that?

hyejin's eyes were fixed on her window, watching as scenery passed by. she let out a content sigh, life was good. she was with her boyfriend and she wasn't stressing about something minimal. she felt free.

"hey, do you wanna stop there?" jungwon asked, pulling the girl out of her trance. she realized he was pointing to somewhere and followed his finger. it was a small beach. a very small one. she smiled, "sure."

jungwon parked the car as hyejin got out of it, making her way to the sand. it was beautiful. she had never been to an empty beach before, let alone one at night. the moon lit up the ocean and made the sand look slightly navy.

she sat down, watching the waves crash against the shore. she unconsciously smiled as jungwon sat next to her, joining her in observing. "it's so peaceful here," she noted and he nodded. "we should come here more often."

hyejin fell backwards, laying fully down in the sand. she knew she would probably get pissed at herself for getting sand in her hair later, but that didn't matter to her now. she giggled as jungwon fell next to her.

she let jungwon wrap his arms around her, pulling her close. she rested her head on his chest, hearing his heart beat. she suddenly looked up at the boy, just to find he was looking at her already.

she smiled happily and he returned it, staring straight at her lips. she felt his gaze and blushed. she blushed even more as jungwon asked the simple question, "can i kiss you?" her answer was yes.

hyejin had realized she loved jungwon a long time ago. it was when he was taking care of her after she got a fever. the realization hit her like a truck. he was feeding her soup and it suddenly came to her. she loved this guy.

ever since then, she was trying to find the perfect time to verbalize her feelings. she would've said it the moment she realized it had she not been afraid. what if he didn't feel the same way?

quicker than she knew it, the new year came. she was excited for 2022. she was excited for all the new experiences she would have with enhypen, her friends, and most of all, her boyfriend.

the eight members of enhypen were on the roof of the hybe building as the fireworks started. they all watched in awe. hyejin and jungwon shared a quick new year's kiss ( though it fell more like a peck ), immediately getting teased by the others.

the couple ignored them. they were honestly happy, this was the first time they had ever kissed, or done anything romantic, outside. it wasn't technically in public, but it felt like it.

the group continued to watch as more fireworks set off and that's when hyejin realized it was time. she admired her boyfriend for a long time, taking in all his features as he stared at the night sky. 

she gathered the courage and tapped him on the shoulder. he looked at her with the most loving gaze that she totally forgot about her fears. she made a motion for him to come closer, and he did so.

she took in a deep breath and whispered in his ear, "i love you." she watched as his ears turned a deep red and he bursted out into a smile. he brought her into a tight hug, whispering "i love you too," into her neck.

he was suddenly happy that the members were not paying attention to the couple at all. it felt like their own little moment. and it definitely was their own little moment. they were in love.
