The door clicks, the brunette lifts her head up from her bed, letting the ball drop to the ground. Her chest tightens as Guards enter her room. "What's going on?" she asks.
"Prisoner 471. Against the wall." One of the guards orders.
Aiden didn't take another moment, she quickly stands up and faces the wall. She licks her lips anxiously. She inhales a shaky breath as one of the guards grabs her arms. She snaps her eyes over to the guard as he moves a metal wristband over to her. "What are you doing?--What is that?" she starts to try and force herself out of the guard's grips.
"Don't worry about it--"
"I'm not 18 yet!" she cries.
The guard latches the metal band on her wrist. She winces as the needles stab into her skin. "What about my sister?" Aiden asks, the guards force her to turn towards them. "I have to know if she's okay...her name is Charlotte Yo--"
"We don't care." One of the guards snaps, shoving her forward.
Aiden stumbles out of her room and slams into the railing. She exhales sharply as she sees everyone being treated the same. The guards were forcing them all out of their rooms. A burning sensation forms behind her eyes. "I'm gonna die," she whispers.
Out of the corner of her eye, Aiden sees a familiar person. She turns her head and her eyes widen. "Spencer!" She calls out to the guard approaching her. "What's going on? Have you seen Charlotte?"
Spencer walks stands in front of the girl. "You'll see. And...no I have not."
Aiden slumps her shoulders. "Spencer--"
"You're going to do great, Aidey." Spencer gives her a small smile.
One of the guards grabs Aiden by the wrist.
"N-No--"
Aiden gasps when she feels something prick inside her neck. Her body quickly starts to get heavy and she falls to the ground.
Spencer looks from the girl on the ground and at the guards.
"Couldn't have given a warning first?"
The guard chuckles, he looks at the other man. "Whatever, we finally got her to shut up."
Spencer runs her tongue over her teeth, she slowly nods her head and chuckles. She walks over to the guards and grips their shoulders in a bruising manner. She rams her knee in one of the men's crotch and they fall to the ground.
She looks at the other guard. "Keep your hands off her. I've got it." She shoves the other guard back and picks up the blonde-haired girl.
It wasn't long until Aiden felt herself being shaken awake. Her eyes snap open, she looks around the room at all the kids, strapped to their seats. She looks down at herself and notices that she's strapped in as well.
"Well, look who's joined the party!" A familiar voice exclaims.
Aiden was in a panicked state, but the voice brought her relief. "Jasper!" she chuckles softly. Her eyes shift to the person next to Jasper and her smile widens.
"Oh, thank god, Monty!"
Jasper frowns, "Why do you sound so excited to see him?"
Aiden knits her brows together. "I'm excited to see you too."
"Not as excited as you were to see Monty." Jasper states.
"That's not true." Aiden scoffs.
"Guys--"
"You said 'Jasper!'." He mocks Aiden's voice in a high-pitched tone and she rolls her eyes. "Then you said, 'Oh, thank god, Monty!'."
Aiden cranes her neck forward, wanting him to elaborate.
"Monty got more words than me," Jasper says.
"Please stop." Monty and Aiden chorus.
"I love you guys equally," Aiden says.
Jasper pours, "Promise?"
Aiden snorts, "No. Monty is my one and only."
Jasper's mouth hangs open.
"I'm kidding, J! I love you both the same amount," she chuckles. "Promise."
"More than Charlie?"
Aiden arches a brow, "Do you really want me to answer that?"
Monty and Jasper look at each other.
"No, we already know the answer," Monty says.
"Speaking of which...have you guys seen my sister?"
"Charlie?" Jasper asks.
"The only sister I have, Jasper." She sighs.
A smile forms on her lips as Monty and Jasper look at each other. Then they look back at her.
"No."
Her smile falls and she exhales sharply. She looks around, her eyes skimming each person. "Dammit..." she whispers, her heartbeat starts to increase.
Monty and Jasper exchange expressions, they knew Aiden like they knew their special...plants. She was getting in her head again, thinking about every terrible situation that could've happened to Charlotte. "Hey, she'll be fine, A." Jasper states.
"No, no she won't...she...she's always had me and I'm not there." Aiden gnaws on her lower lip.
Before the boys could try to continue to reassure the blonde, the ship shakes and a gasp leaves Aiden's mouth. She inhales deeply, holding her breath. The screen comes on, revealing the Chancellor that forced them into this situation.
"Prisoners of the Ark, Hear me now." The Chancellor speaks. "You've been given a second chance, and as your Chancellor, it is my hope that you see this as not just a chance for you, but a chance for all of us, indeed for mankind itself." He continues.
Aiden leans her head back and groans.
No one is expendable.
"Your dad's a dick, Wells." A voice announces.
Aiden looks over at the Chancellor's son. She felt sympathy for him, he wasn't his father. At least she hoped he wasn't. Aiden has always seen the good in people, even when she didn't want to. She couldn't help it.
"The Drop Site has been chosen carefully. Before the last war, Mount Weather was a military base built within a mountain. It was to be stocked with enough nonperishables to sustain 300 people for up to two years.
Out of the corner of her eye, Aiden spots a boy unbuckling his seatbelt and slowly starts to float in the air. She squints her eyes at the boy, he's the one who wasted a month of oxygen.
Idiot.
Cheers and laughter support the boy.
"Spacewalker bandit strikes again."
"Go, Finn!"
Finn floats over to the Chancellor's son and a blonde girl. Aiden turns away from them and continues to look around the dropship for her little sister. She wasn't going to lose her, after everything they have been through, she couldn't.
The ship shakes more aggressively than before. The three boys that were floating in the air fly into different walls. Aiden's head slams against her seat. She gasps in pain, a dull ache forming behind her eyes.
Sparks fly around the ship, the lights continue to flicker. Aiden's heart jumps into her throat, her stomach turns as the ship continues to speed up. They were falling. They were about to die and all Aiden could think about was Charlotte.
"Holy crap! We're gonna die!" Monty screams.
"I haven't even touched my first pair of boobs yet!" Jasper cries.
"I let you touch mine!" Aiden shouts. "The both of you!"
"You don't count!" Jasper and Monty scream.
"You are so lucky we are dying right now, otherwise I'd--"
Her head is yanked down as the ship crashes to the ground. All the lights go out for a moment before flickering back on. Everything was still.
"Listen," Monty speaks. "No machine hum."
"Whoa." Jasper sounds out.
"That's a first."
Aiden looks down at her seat and is the first person to unbuckle and stand up. "Charlotte?!" she raises her voice. Everyone starts to get out of their seats and make their way to the front.
"The outer doors on the lower levels. Let's go!"
Aiden follows the crowd. The blonde's breathing quickens as she gently shoves through the crowd. "Charlotte!" she shouts.
"Aiden?" a voice says.
Aiden spins around and her eyes land on the little girl. The heavyweight was lifted off her shoulders and her worried expression was switched with a smile. "Oh, thank God," she whispers running over to her.
Charlotte wraps her arms around Aiden's middle. Aiden touches the back of Charlotte's head, tears forming in her eyes. "I didn't think you were here." Charlotte whispers.
Aiden lightly chuckles, she kneels down in front of her sister. "Of course I am, bug. I will always be here." she gives her sister a soft smile.
Charlotte blinks her tears away and crushes Aiden in another hug. Aiden hugs her back. As Aiden and Charlotte were reuniting, two other family members were having a reunion of their own.
"Bellamy?" A soft voice croaks.
The area falls silent. Aiden rises to her feet to see a girl with brown hair, a sharp jawline, and glassy eyes walk closer to the man in front of the door. "My God. Look how big you are." Bellamy chuckles.
Octavia wraps her arms around her brother's neck and exhales a sigh of relief. She separates from him and her soft expression was changed with an angry and confused one. "What the hell are you wearing, a guard's uniform?" the brunette questions.
"I borrowed it to get on the dropship." Bellamy states. "Someone's got to keep an eye on you."
"Where's your wristband?" Clarke interrupts the second hug between the siblings.
Octavia turns to the blonde. "Do you mind? I haven't seen my brother in a year," she states.
"No one has a brother!" A voice calls out."That's Octavia Blake, the girl they found hidden in the floor."
Voices rise through the air. Octavia's face twists with rage, she lunges forward. Bellamy wraps his arms around her waist, keeping her from taking her anger out on anyone.
Aiden's eyes slightly widen. She never cared about listening to other people's stories about how they got arrested. She just kept to herself, her whole life she's dedicated it to protecting Charlotte. Why worry about anything else?
She had no idea there was anyone out there with the same problem she had. Except she didn't have to hide under the floor. She was able to still live a normal life, just separate from her sister and mother.
"Octavia, Octavia, no." Bellamy pulls her back. "Let's give them something else to remember you by."
Octavia snaps her angry look to her brother. "Yeah, like what?" she scoffs.
"Like being the first person on the ground in 100 years." Bellamy states.
Octavia raises her brows in disbelief at what her brother was saying. He smirks and her smile grows. Bellamy touches the lever and pulls it down, the doors opening. A light blinds Aiden, Charlotte's hand tightens around the older sister's. Aiden blinks a few times to readjust her eyes.
As soon as her eyes adjusted they widened with disbelief. There was no way she was looking at this right now. It was such a vibrant green, the dark brown dirt mixed into the ground. Her eyes travel to Octavia as she slowly walks to the edge of the ramp. Octavia takes a deep breath, her eyes closing. The air was refreshing, like a sip of cold water after being in the sun all day. She exhales softly, looks at the dirt hesitantly, and drops to the ground. She looks around the forest, a smile on her lips. She digs her heels into the ground and raises her fists in the air.
"WE'RE BACK, BITCHES!"
That signals everyone to cheer and run down the ramp and split off into the green area. Aiden smiles as Charlotte runs out to the green area. "Come on, Aiden!" Charlotte shouts as she brushes past Octavia.
Aiden hesitantly looks at the ground. Her eyes then travel to her sister, seeing Charlotte smile was the greatest feeling in the world. Charlotte's eyes were stuck on a yellow flower.
"Hey." A voice calls out.
Aiden looks over at the girl who was the first to set foot on Earth in 100 years.
"Hi." Aiden greets her.
Octavia looks at the young girl who was paying attention to the flower. "You're Aiden Chase ," she states, shifting her eyes back to Aiden.
Aiden blinks, "Uh--yeah...and you're Octavia Blake."
Octavia smirks, "So, how does it feel to not be the only person with a sibling?"
Aiden presses her lips together, "Oddly, comforting. You?"
Octavia shrugs, "Meh."
Aiden's soft expression drops, "Oh, Uh--I mean...I respect your opinion. I mean--"
"Relax, I was kidding," Octavia says before Aiden could ramble on for eternity.
Aiden stops and sighs, "Oh...okay--cool."
Octavia chuckles softly. "She's adorable." she motions her head to Charlotte, who was now running her hands through the grass.
Aiden looks at Charlotte and softly smiles, "Thank you." she says. "And...I'm sorry, you had to go through that...hiding." she looks at Octavia.
Octavia tenses up, "Yeah, well...screw them and their dumb rules, right?" she shrugs.
Aiden's mouth twitches, "Right." she nods.
"I'll see you later, Aiden Walker." Octavia walks past the teen.
Aiden exhales sharply and touches her stomach. She turns around and sees Charlotte staring at her with a grin. Aiden rolls her eyes, "What?" she questions.
Charlotte giggles, "You made friend." she states.
"I already have friends." Aiden states. "Jasper and Monty."
Charlotte squints her eyes. "Yeah. But she's a girl," she states.
Aiden blinks, not understanding what Charlotte was getting at. Charlotte raises her brows and Aiden's eyes widen.
Charlotte shrugs a shoulder, "And she's pretty."
"Really pretty." Aiden chuckles.
Charlotte laughs and Aiden's face heats up.
"Go back to your flowers."
☆
Aiden continues to stab the stick into the ground repeatedly. "We've only been on earth for a few hours and you're already taking your anger out on it." Monty sighs as he sits next to her in the grass.
Aiden quietly chuckles, "Not anger. Boredom." she corrects. The blonde looks to her side and sees Charlotte drawing flowers into the dirt. Aiden smiles softly. Charlotte has always taken an interest in flowers, now she was finally able to actually see them, smell them, feel them. Aiden couldn't be happier for her.
"Your mom and dad would be proud of you," Monty says quietly.
Aiden looks at Monty then the ground. She shrugs a shoulder. "I don't know, I mean...they're dead because of me."
Monty opens his mouth to object, but Aiden speaks. "But, thank you, Monty," she says.
Jasper walks over to them. "Hey, that blonde girl is really cute," he says.
Aiden looks over at the girl he was talking about. "Her name is Clarke," she says. "And yes, she is."
"You think that she would want a piece of good ol' Jasper Jordan?" The boy motions to himself.
Aiden and Monty look at each other, they both burst into laughter and Jasper's smile falls. The two delinquents stop laughing. "You can give it a shot," Aiden says, encouraging Jasper.
Jasper smiles again and nods his head. He turns away from them. "Hey!" Aiden calls out.
Jasper turns back to see Aiden and Monty giving them thumbs up. "You're the man, J!" Aiden exclaims.
Jasper nods his head. "I'm the man...I'm the man..." he whispers, walking over to the Clarke and Wells. "Ah, cool, a map," Jasper speaks, interrupting the two. "They got a bar in this town? I'll buy you a beer."
Wells turns to Jasper and grips his arms pushing him back. "You mind?" his voice was stern.
Aiden looks over at Charlotte. "Stay here," she says.
"Going to save Jasper again?" Charlotte questions.
"Looks like it." Aiden looks at Monty. They both rise to their feet and walk over to Jasper.
"Hey, guys," Aiden says, grabbing Jasper's arm and gently pulling him from Wells's grip. "Jasper was just trying to make conversation."
Aiden looks over at Clarke. "I'm sorry, I told him to come over here. I--"
"No, Aiden. It's okay, there's no problem." Clarke says, giving the girl a small smile.
Aiden inhales and nods her head. The blonde-haired girl looks at Wells.
"Relax. We're just trying to figure out where we are." Wells states.
Aiden knits her brows together. Wells stopped her from talking before she even started. Did he think she was gonna yell at him?
"We're on the ground," Bellamy speaks. "That not good enough for you?"
Aiden looks at Jasper as he pouts. "You okay?" The girl asks.
"He totally bruised my arms." Jasper whines.
Aiden bites the inside of her cheek. "I'm sorry, J.," she says rubbing his arms.
Jasper smiles. "I always like it when you rub me," he says, his eyebrows raised.
Aiden's expression drops and she dry heaves. "When will you stop?" she questions.
"Never. I like getting on your nerves." Jasper says.
Aiden rolls her eyes and pays attention to the conversation once again.
"Screw your father," Octavia speaks. "What, you think you're in charge here, you and your little princess?" the brunette looks at the blonde that was standing beside Wells.
"Do you think we care who's in charge?" Clarke questions. "We need to get to Mount Weather. Not because the Chancellor said so, but because the longer we wait, the hungrier we'll get and the harder this'll be. How long do you think we'll last without those supplies?" Her eyes skim through the crowd. "We're looking at a 20-mile Trek, ok? So if we want to get there before dark, we need to leave now."
Aiden looks around to see if anyone else felt some motivation. "I got a better idea," Bellamy speaks up. "You two go, find it for us. Let the privileged do the hard work for a change."
The crowd of delinquents agrees with Bellamy.
"You're not listening we all need to go," Wells calls out.
A boy quickly walks over to Wells and shoves him. "Look at this, everybody--the Chancellor of Earth," Murphy speaks.
Everyone laughs except for a few. Aiden takes a step away from the situation.
"Think that's funny?" Wells questions.
Murphy quickly kicks Wells's ankle, knocking him to the ground. "No, but that was," he replies.
Wells gets back on his feet, putting less weight on one of his ankles. "All right." Murphy nods as he sees Wells get in the best fighting position he could with one bad ankle.
Before they could fight, the Spacewalker jumps off the side of the dropship and lands on the ground. Murphy looks from the dropship to Finn. "Kid's got one leg. How about you wait until it's a fair fight?" Finn suggests.
Octavia's eyes light up with interest. She walks over to where the commotion previously was. "Hey, Spacewalker," she calls out, catching Finn's attention.
"Rescue me next." She adds.
Light laughter fills the crowd. As the crowds of delinquents disperse.
"Octavia's pretty cute, huh?" Jasper nudges the brunette.
Aiden grunts quietly and looks at him then at Octavia who was talking to her brother. "Yeah, so is every girl here," Aiden says bluntly.
Jasper and Monty roll their eyes. "Sometimes you're very hard to have a conversation with." Monty states.
Aiden chuckles softly. Suddenly, Finn grabs Jasper and Monty by their jackets and pulls them towards Clarke and Wells. Aiden blinks.
"4 of us. Can we go now?" Finn questions.
"Sounds like a party. Make it 5." Octavia jogs over to them.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing?" Bellamy grabs her arm.
"Going for a walk." Octavia states.
Jasper looks at Aiden. "Hey, Aiden. Wanna make it 6?" he questions.
Aiden looks at the group and scoffs. "I'll pass," she says. "I'm gonna look after my sister."
"Come on there are 94 more people who can help watch her." Jasper states.
"92, actually." Aiden corrects. "Those two kids that followed Finn are dead."
The group fills with tension. Aiden looks back at them. Monty and Jasper glared at the girl and she knits her brows together and shrugs.
Monty rolls his eyes. The blonde-haired girl raises her brows, understanding.
"Sorry." Aiden finally says, showing her sympathy.
"Come on, Aiden Walker," Octavia calls out. "Have some fun, for the first time in your life." she teases the blonde.
Aiden inhales deeply, "Sure. Just, give me a second."
Aiden looks to the spot her sister was located, but she wasn't there anymore.
"Charlotte?" Aiden calls out.
Aiden looks over at Jasper and Monty. They both point towards the dropship. Aiden jogs over to the doors of the dropship and sees her sister sleeping. She exhales quietly and walks over to her little sister. Small whimpers come from Charlotte's mouth. Aiden knits her brows together. She sits on the bench Charlotte was laying on.
"Hey, Char," Aiden runs a hand through Charlotte's hair.
Charlotte starts to stir in her sleep, her eyes slowly opening. She lifts her head up and sends her sister a smile even though she was still tired.
"I'm sorry I was just tired and the dirt was uncomfort--"
"You don't have to apologize for being human." Aiden runs a hand through Charlotte's hair. "Were you having a nightmare?"
Charlotte tenses up, "No, I was just...trying to get comfortable."
Aiden presses her lips together. She wanted to continue to ask Charlotte, but she didn't know if she would snap or not. Nolan did that with her all the time.
"Okay, just checking up on you." She lightly pats Charlotte's hair down. "I wanted to tell you that...I'm going to go help some people get food for us."
Charlotte tenses up, "What? You're leaving?" she questions. Charlotte sits up. "I'll go too."
Aiden shakes her head, "It's not safe." she states.
"Then why are you going?" Charlotte questions.
"Because I'm practically an adult," Aiden informs.
"You're 16."
Aiden shrugs, "Same thing."
"Is Octavia going?" Charlotte asks.
Aiden rolls her eyes, she kisses the top of Charlotte's head. "Just...stay in the dropship and sleep," she says, standing up and walking towards the exit. "Don't go near any of these..."
"...delinquents?"
Aiden points at Charlotte and winks, "Exactly."
Charlotte rolls her eyes, but she smiles. "I love you."
Aiden smiles, "I love you too, bug."
☆
"Now, that, my friends, is game." Jasper looks to Aiden and Monty.
Aiden rolls her eyes and continues to walk forward. "That, my friend, is poison sumac." Monty states.
"What? It is?" Octavia throws the flower out of her hair.
"The flowers aren't poisonous." Monty states. "They're medicinal, calming, actually."
Finn and Octavia look at Aiden and Jasper for an explanation. "His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on the Ark." Aiden explains.
"Hey, Guys, would you try to keep up?" Clarke turns to them, her forehead wrinkled.
"Come on, Clarke. How do you block all this out?" Finn questions.
"Well, it's simple." Clarke starts. "I wonder, "Why haven't we seen any animals?" Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us."
Aiden looks around, now slowly getting paranoid herself. "Sure is pretty though. Come on." Clarke continues forward.
"Someone should slip her some poison sumac," Octavia murmurs to the other four. Aiden lets out a soft chuckle and Octavia turns to her.
"Did I make the Aiden Chase laugh?" Octavia questions.
Aiden opens and closes her mouth, "I chuckled."
Octavia lets out a laugh before continuing forward with them. "I got to know what you two did to get busted." Finn states.
"Sumac's not the only herb in the garden if you know what I mean." Monty states and Aiden smirks.
"Someone forgot to replace what we took."
"Someone's apologized a 1,000 times."
"What about Aiden Young, what's her story?" Octavia looks at the blonde-haired girl who was behind the rest of the group, silent.
Aiden lifts her head up to see everyone staring at her. "Uh, I just trusted someone that..." she trails off her explanation and her gut tightens. "He sold me and my sister out," she sums everything up. "It was my fault...I shouldn't have said anything."
Octavia's jaw goes slack as she sees the anger and grief across the blonde's expression. "You?" Aiden adds.
Octavia soon has the same expression as Aiden. "Being born," she answers.
A sad smile forms on Aiden's lips. Octavia jogs away to catch up to Clarke.
"That is so not game." Monty states.
"You know you can't blame yourself, right?" Monty says to her.
Aiden looks at Monty. "You thought you could trust your boyfriend. It happens all the time."
Aiden shakes her head, "Not with that big of a secret."
"My dad taught me better..." she rubs her arms.
Monty and Jasper look at each other before they catch up to Octavia and Clarke.
Clarke turns to them and places a finger over her mouth. She points ahead, Aiden crouches down and smiles as she looks at the deer in front of her.
She's never seen anything so beautiful. "No animals, huh?" Finn looks at Clarke. Aiden quietly chuckles.
Finn slowly walks forward, a twig snaps under his boot. The Deer snaps its head up and looks at the delinquents, its head split in two.
Aiden's heart jumps into her throat.
...
"Hey, you know what I'd like to know?"
Aiden looks at Finn as he speaks.
"Why send us down today after 97 years?" He asks. "What changed?"
"Who cares? I'm just glad they did." Octavia says. "I woke up rotting in a cell, and now I'm spinning in a forest." She spins around a tree.
Aiden raises her brows as Finn just passes the brunette she she sighs in frustration. Jasper nudges Aiden's shoulder. "Go talk to her."
Aiden looks at Jasper. "You talk to her--"
"No, you--"
"No--"
"How about..." Monty places an arm on both his friend's shoulders. "Aiden talks to her first, then Jasper?"
Aiden looks at Jasper and he looks at her.
"Deal."
Aiden looks at Octavia and inhales. She starts to walk over to the brunette, wondering what she should say. Maybe go with something nice? Compliment her hair? No, compliment her smile.
"Was that supposed to impress him?" The blonde-haired girl asks.
Octavia looks at Aiden.
Shit.
Octavia looks at Aiden and a smirk forms on the brunette's lips. "Seems to have impressed you." She arches a brow.
Aiden's smile falls. She was surprised that Octavia actually caught that she was joking. Most people didn't. "Mmm...no. It made me feel bad for you." the blonde continues.
"Oh, really?" Octavia chuckles.
"Yeah, really." Aiden nods, smiling as well.
Octavia rolls her lips into her mouth. "You're not bad, Aiden Chase."
Aiden snorts, "What did you think I was?"
"Some loner who judges other people."
Aiden's smile drops and she swallows. She lets out a nervous chuckle, "Uh...I mean before Jasper and Monty I think that you could say I was the 'loner who judged other people'."
"Well, thank God for Jasper and Monty." Octavia nudges the girl.
Aiden chuckles softly, "Yeah..." she looks at Monty and Jasper.
They catch up with the group and tune back into the conversation.
"It wasn't a satellite." Clarke corrects Monty. "The Ark is dying."
All the delinquents stop and look at the blonde-haired girl. Clarke walks past them. "At the current population level, there's roughly 3 months left of life support, maybe 4 now that we're gone."
"So that was the secret they locked you up to keep, why they kept you in solitary, floated your old man?" Finn asks.
Aren't you supposed to warm up to those kind of questions? I mean... you just met her today, Finn.
Aiden kicks a pebble.
"My father was the engineer who discovered the flaw." Clarke resumes. "He thought the people had a right to know. The council disagreed. My mother disagreed. They were afraid it would cause a panic. We were gonna go public, anyway, when Wells..."
Aiden knits her brows together, "Wells turned in your dad?" She asks softly.
Clarke nods at the other blonde and Aiden's eyes sadden.
"Anyway, the guard showed up before we could. That's why today." Clarke says. "That's why it was worth the risk. Even if we all die, at least they bought themselves more time."
"They're gonna kill more people, aren't they?" Monty asks.
Clarke doesn't answer. Aiden looks at Monty and sees the worry coming off of him. She lightly touches his arm.
"Good. After what they did to me, I say float them all." Octavia walks past the rest of the group.
Aiden would agree with Octavia. But she knew Monty was worried about his parents, so she decided to keep quiet this time.
"You don't mean that," Jasper calls out, following after Octavia.
"Hey..." Aiden grips Monty's arms and turns him to her.
Monty looks at the blonde and she smiles. "Your parents are going to be fine." She says. "They're important people, Monty. And they're survivors."
"I still can't help but worry, y'know?" Monty shrugs.
Aiden bites the inside of her cheek and nods her head. "Yeah, I know." She throws an arm over Monty's shoulders and pulls him into her side. Monty wraps his arm around her waist and they continue to walk towards Jasper and Octavia.
"Oh, damn I love earth."
Aiden knits her brows together. But they quickly raise when she looks behind Jasper and sees Octavia taking her pants off.
Aiden chuckles softly, "One of the Seven Wonders."
Jasper snorts, "Nice one."
Aiden nods her head, "I know, right?"
Jasper raises his hand and so does Aiden. She slaps her other palm against her own and Jasper does the same thing to his palm.
"Octavia, what the hell are you doing?!" Clarke calls out to the girl.
Octavia turns to the group, she gives them a smile before jumping off the boulders and into the water.
They run towards the rocks and spot Octavia in the water.
"Octavia...we can't swim." Monty states.
"No. But we can stand." She rises to her feet and laughs.
"Wait. There's not supposed to be a river here." Clarke states.
"Well, there is," Finn says. "So take off your damn clothes."
Aiden folds her arms as everyone starts to take off their jackets.
"What's wrong is Aiden Chase afraid of a little water?" Octavia arches a brow.
Aiden was glad everyone else was having a good time. She just wishes she could too.
"I'm not afraid of water. I drink it." She says. "I just...don't want to have the hassle of taking my clothes..." she trails off her lie as she spots something in the water, swimming towards Octavia.
Aiden's eyes widen, "Octavia, get out of the water."
Octavia turns around and everyone's expressions drop.
"Get out of the water now!"
Octavia is pulled under the water and she is quickly pulled around the river.
"Octavia!"
The brunette is submerged underwater and her screams stop.
Aiden's stomach turns and her mouth hangs open. Her eyes travel around the water, trying to find the girl.
In a different spot, Octavia appears and she's screaming again.
"What the hell is that?" Monty asks.
"W-We have to help her," Aiden says.
"What are we going to do?" Finn asks.
"Try not to get eaten." Jasper steps toward the edge of the Boulder, getting ready to jump.
"No, wait!"
Aiden quickly grabs Jasper's arm.
"If we distract it, it might let her go. Help me." Clarke crouches beside a large Boulder.
They help Clarke shove the Boulder into the water.
Whatever grabbed Octavia release her and approaches the cliff.
"It worked. It let her go."
"Octavia, get to the shore now!" Jasper runs over to the shallow side of the water.
He jumps into the water and grabs Octavia.
The creature turns and swims toward Jasper and Octavia.
"It's coming back!" Aiden screams. She runs toward the shore and holds her arm out.
"It's headed right for you, guys."
Jasper helps Octavia onto the shore. Octavia clasps her hand onto Aiden's arm. Aiden pulls Octavia more onto the shore along with Jasper. Aiden looks at Octavia's wound on her leg. She rips some of Jasper's shirt off of him.
"Thank you. Thank you." Octavia hugs Jasper.
"You're gonna be okay." Aiden ties the cloth around Octavia's leg.
Aiden arches a brow as she watches Octavia and Jasper still hugging.
"Note to self--next time, save the girl." Monty states.
Everyone takes that moment to let out a laugh of relief.
☆
Aiden woke up with her head on Monty's shoulder and her arm over Jasper's face while Octavia was laying on Jasper's chest. The blonde moves her hand and stretches, accidentally hitting Jasper.
Jasper shoots up and he ends up waking up Octavia as well. Aiden chuckles at Jasper and he squints his eyes. He sticks his finger in his mouth and sticks it in Aiden's ear.
A gasp escapes her lips and she groans. "Gross, J! Why?!" She mushes his face.
Octavia sits up and yawns. Monty shakes his shoulder, brushing Aiden's head off. "Ow, Monty." She rubs her neck.
"Sorry." Monty rubs his eyes.
Aiden sighs and she wipes at her ear.
"You guys should've seen it last night."
Everyone looks at Finn and Clarke. "The whole forest was glowing and we saw footprints!"
"Finn thinks it could be monkeys." Clarke snorts.
"Monkeys?" Jasper, Monty, and Octavia chorus.
Aiden blinks, "I'm stuck on the fact that Clarke and Finn were up late last night...alone." She wiggles her brows.
Clarke's jaw goes slack and Finn smirks.
"I-It wasn't like that." Clarke stammers.
Aiden stands up and stretches, "Yeah--no. Of course not." She walks past Clarke with a smirk.
Clarke presses her lips into a firm line. "No, seriously!" She follows after Aiden.
"Just saying..."
Aiden looks at Clarke who started talking.
"...it's good to see you opening up."
Aiden shrugs a shoulder, "I think earth is gonna be different." she says, a smile on her lips.
They got back to the river, but they found a rope to tie to a tree.
"You wanted to go first. Now quit stalling." Clarke calls out to Finn. "Mount Weather awaits."
"Just hang on till the Apogee, and you'll be fine," Jasper advises.
"The Apogee like the Indians, right?" Finn questions.
"Apogee, not Apache." Aiden corrects.
"He knows. Today, Finn." Clarke speaks.
"Aye, aye, captain." Finn salutes the blonde. He looks at Jasper, "See you on the other side."
Before Finn could swing, Jasper stops him. "Wait."
"What?" Finn looks at Jasper.
"Let me," Jasper says.
Aiden arches a brow and chuckles. Finn smirks and looks at Jasper.
"I can do it," Jasper reassures Finn.
Finn hands Jasper the rope. "Knew there was a badass in there somewhere."
Jasper chuckles softly. He looks at Octavia then at Aiden.
The blonde gives him two thumbs up. Jasper looks across the river.
"Hey, it's ok to be afraid, Jasper," Finn says. "The trick is not fighting it."
Jasper nods his head and he inhales deeply. "See you on the other side."
Jasper swings across the river, he lets go of the twine of rope and falls on the other side of the river. Aiden pulls her brows together.
Jasper stirs and stands to his feet. He looks behind him, then back at the group. He raises his arms
"WE ARE APOGEE!"
A wide smile spreads across the Aiden's face.
She wraps her arms around Monty's neck and cheers.
"YEAH, JASPER!"
Jasper dances around.
"COME ON, CLARKE! YOU GOT THIS!"
Aiden laughs at Jasper's excitement.
Jasper turns around, walks over to a sign, and picks it up.
"We did it!"
They all look back at Jasper. He raises his the sign that reads 'Mount Weather'.
"Mount Weather! Yes!"
Aiden pumps a fist and laughs.
"WAY TO GO JAS--"
A spear comes out of nowhere and stabs into Jasper's chest. He flies back and sticks into a tree.
Aiden's smile quickly falls and her mouth opens and closes.
"J-J-JASPER!" Aiden takes a step forward.
Monty and Octavia grab the blonde and pull her behind a Boulder with Finn and Clarke. Aiden's breathing quickens and a small whimper leaves her lips. She slaps a hand over her mouth. Sounds of branches snap around them.
"We're not alone."
