chapter eighty
"I'm sorry about them, especially that stupid Jacob," muttered Adena as they were walking to the Slytherin common room which they quickly reached since they wanted to be as far as possible from the group of idiots Adena had for friends.
"They were being annoying. But why would they do that?"
"Hm... apparently... they hm... described you in some way, and they wanted to prove it and have some fun with you," she whispered suddenly embarrassed by this childish game.
"How did they describe me?" asked curiously Regulus as they entered the common room.
"They said you were whipped for me..."
The boy looked at her with wide surprised eyes but didn't say anything, and instead led her to his bedroom.
"Does it show?"
Adena just laughed at his question. "Apparently yes. I just told them you were normal, and you've always been like that."
"I haven't always been like that. But I've only been all eyes for you since we got close though. Not that I show it that much I guess," said the boy thoughtful as he got rid of his shoes to lay on his bed.
"So, you agree with them?" exclaimed the girl, doing the same and climbing up to his side.
"I don't think I can deny that..." he shrugged looking at her.
"They said it was a way to warm up, but you didn't look very pleased so..."
"Thank them for the effort then."
And she chuckled again as she snuggled close to him.
"Did you calm down after what happened this morning?" she asked suddenly, more seriously.
"Hm, yeah..."
"What actually happened?" asked again the brunette as she placed her head on his torso, her face turned so she could look at him. His long fingers went to brush through her locks as he fixed her.
"Nothing really..."
"But I want to know."
"He said... some stupid stuff about you... and I got mad as you could guess."
"I could yeah... what did you tell him in the end?"
"That he should know his place and that my girl will make him shut his filthy mouth..."
The young Ravenclaw widened her eyes at his statement before grinning. "You're right, I could easily do that."
"I know. You're much more skilled than him."
Her grin widened at his words. She closed the distance between their faces to place a light kiss on his lips but detached herself way too soon for the Slytherin male. His hand in her hair brought her close again and she chuckled as he kissed her more firmly. Adena instantly responded to his kiss as she closed her eyes. It was perfect until the door suddenly burst open with a voice saying.
"Don't do gross stuff in my room you two!"
The two instantly disconnected, Adena turning around to look at the newcomer.
"Nott, we both know you do more disgusting things in this room," said Regulus emotionlessly with a sigh. The girl could hear a groan coming from Harold Nott who was by his bed. Adena stared at Regulus, confused, clearly not understanding the meaning of his words, he just gave her a wave of head in response.
"Well, have fun..." groaned the boy again as he left.
"Merlin's beard, why do I have the most annoying roommates."
The girl just shrugged as she laid more comfortably by his side. This time he was the one to lay his face on her chest. His eyes were already close the moment her hand touched his raven curls. It instantly brought calm and peace into him. Under the light caresses of Adena, Regulus couldn't help falling asleep. Her warmth and delicate scent were lulling him into a deep slumber and the girl smiled when she noticed his breathing slow. These were the kind of moments the brunette adored and would always cherish.
During the next days, Adena barely saw her boyfriend except in class. He was busy practicing for their upcoming Quidditch match which was against Ravenclaw. Jacob was mostly out of sight as well. He was a very serious Captain that never missed a chance to practice with his team. This side of Jacob would always surprise the others.
The Friday before the match, the young Ravenclaw woke up feeling rather happy. During breakfast she was in a good mood as well, not even bothered by Jacob's excited voice by her side talking about the upcoming match. When finishing eating she walked to the Arithmancy class as it was the first class of the day. She was early, but patiently waited for Regulus.
"Good morning Adena," he said as he sat beside her. She turned her face towards him. He had the same ravished grin on his face.
"Good morning Regulus," she replied quietly, but her joy hearable in her voice.
His grey eyes illuminated by an excited glint looked at her and he said. "Do you know what day it is?"
"Of course. How could I forget one of my favorite moments," she chuckled quietly as she answered.
"Of course... You would like fly tonight Adena?"
The girl nodded with enthusiasm. She would always remember what happened on that bright night of October. She had asked Regulus to fly on his broomstick. He had made her feel so many sensations that night, it was so beautiful and intense. They were so close to the stars, she felt like dreaming. She could also remember how his warmth was enveloping her and she couldn't even feel the chilly autumn weather. That night ended in the most perfect way with the first kiss they shared. It felt so perfect, she would love to experience that again.
The brunette made sure to do some of her homework during her free periods since she knew she would be busy for the night, and that she might be busy the next day as well, either because of the party in the Ravenclaw common room in case of victory or the one in the Slytherin common room. She still had to patrol that night and she had obviously told Regulus which he was very displeased about. Adena just laughed at that when she left his side after dinner.
"What do you think about tomorrow match?" asked curiously Noah as they were patrolling.
"I'm not good for prognostics."
"I hope you won't support the Slytherins!"
"I never support the Slytherins you idiot!"
"I hope... I also hope we'll get our revenge."
"I kinda hope that as well," sighed the girl.
When they were done patrolling, Regulus joined Adena by the door leading to the park.
"You aren't scared to be alone in the corridors anymore I see..." he said when he reached her side. He noticed she was wearing his green and silver scarf where her face was snuggled into.
"No... I should be able to defend myself... but I'm never as safe as when you're with me..."
"I'll try my best to keep you safe then."
"Just stay with me and it's enough," she answered, walking down in the grass towards the Quidditch pitch. They did the exact same thing as last time, and Adena could remember some details she had forgotten about like the warmth of his hand at that time, and the minutes he took to give her instructions and how he wanted to keep her secure. "He already liked me back then," she thought, and it made her smile.
"Why are you smiling?" asked the boy as he got out of the changing room with his broom.
"Nothing just... remembering last year and thinking about the fact that you actually liked me that time."
"I did like you indeed. In fact, as I told you later, I was in love with you."
The girl's grin widened as she reached his side, ready to climb up behind him. This time he didn't have to say anything for her to hold tight onto him, much tighter than necessary, but both didn't mind the proximity. Regulus then kicked the ground and the broom dived into the air, making them fly high quickly. The sky was still as pretty. She was happy to admire such beauty with her boyfriend. She could distinguish some constellations in the clear sky, as well as recognize some stars. It made her so happy.
"I'm so happy Regulus," she told him when he picked up the pace, making the wind glide through both their hair, the sensation of freedom enveloping them.
"I'm glad," he answered, and he was smiling. Her happiness was so precious, and it felt better when he was part of the reason why she was happy. He truly loved when she was happy.
"Aren't you cold? I still have your scarf you know," she quietly murmured as to not break the calm moment.
This made the boy chuckled lightly. "I'm fine. And also, this is almost your scarf since you love wearing it so much. As I said once, green is your color."
"Idiot. I still prefer blue," she muttered, and Regulus chuckled again.
They flew around Hogwarts and its mountains for about an hour. Adena didn't want them to stay out too long since the raven-haired male should rest before his Quidditch match. Just like last time, they came back at the Astronomy tower. Regulus looked at her with a wide grin that Adena mimicked. His loving stare was even brighter now. The time where he closed the distance between them didn't feel as long. However, his touch was just as gentle. Adena was melting against his lips. It obviously felt different from last time. She was actually responding to his kiss with passion and hugging him so tight. She was loving every second of it, just like Regulus. He loved her and every sensation she created in him. It was different from the first time, but it just felt as magical and wonderful.
author's note: i'm aware "whipped" wasn't used back in the 70s but it felt appropriate
anyway i've started writing something else, i don't think i've mentioned it before? it's again a regulus story, even though i was writing about someone else before. i was really inspired for that one, hope it turns out good and that i continue to feel inspiration
another chapter is coming right after because it's so much more interesting :)
