004 — HALE VAULT

"What's wrong?" Kate asked Derek as he stopped in the middle of the tunnel leading to the entrance of the school, Laura stood by his side.

"I don't know about this. I'm not supposed to show the vault to anyone outside of my family" Derek replied not quite trusting this woman in front of him the Kate he knew now seemed different, more desperate.

"Come on, we talked about this" Kate said as she grabbed Dereks hand who in turn took Laura's not wanting to leave her alone in a town she doesn't know.

"Yeah, but, how do you even know?" He asked her not remembering having that kind of conversation with Kate knowing that it would of gotten him in trouble with his family.

Kate stopped Derek as she turned to him "Because, you told me. Don't you remember?" She asked him trying to sound sincere.

Derek looked at Kate straight in the eyes searching for the truth, deep down he knew something was up and Kate caught his hesitation so instead of feeding him more lies she tried a different approach.

"Tell me if you remember this" She leant in and kissed the boy who through there kiss bared a confused look upon his face, one which matched Laura's one as she felt weirded out watching the couple make out knowing that there must be a big age difference between them yet here they are making out, she thought that the woman seemed that she could be old enough to be either of their Mother's but Laura decided not to say anything, it didn't seem like her place even if it did creep her out.

Kate pulled away from Derek resting her forehead against his "We get inside the vault, we get the triskalion, and then everything goes back to normal" Kate told Derek something in her tone making her seem like it had some hidden meaning to it.

"And that's all you want?" The younger version of Derek asked her.

Kate nodded "That's all we need, but right now we have to get inside that vault" Derek nodded in response and in that moment Kate knew she succeeded in getting Derek to agree to take her to his family's vault.

"Over here" Derek announced as he lead them to the sign of Beacon Hills High School.

"Why would your family build a vault under a high school?" Kate asked him thinking that the idea of it was absurd.

Derek gave her a look "The vault was here first" He stated as he took out his claws and used them to open the entrance of the vault. The sign moved until a set of stairs were revealed leading underground into where Laura assumed this so called vault is.

Kate started to walk down the stairs and Derek stayed back a second with Laura sensing her hesitation.

"You can stay here if you want, if you see anything just shout my name okay?" Derek told her softly before leaving her to stand outside the vault and wait for their return.

After a few minutes of waiting outside the vault for Derek, Laura heard a familiar sound, the same one that she heard in Mexico.

She looked around for the source but she couldn't pick anything up until a figure came running towards her, she quickly extracted her claws ready for an attack but the man put his hands up in surrender.

"As much as I love a good fight, we have more pressing matters to attend to, I see you've met my nephew he's much younger than he usually is but that's a story for another time. I believe that you're Wolverines daughter correct?" The man peered down at the girl who nodded in response.

"Maybe you'll be of some use in the future, why don't we go and see how Derek's getting along hmm?" He lead her down the stairs towards the vault where Derek and Kate stood in front of it.

Kate held a wooden object in her hand examining it as she looked back up at Derek.

"Doesn't look like much" She said confused as she believe that the so called powerful talisman would look more powerful.

"That's because it isn't" The man who Laura now knew as Derek's Uncle replied grabbing both Kate's and his nephews attention.

"Quite the elaborate scheme you have here Kate. To countries, Aztec temples to Derek returning to a teenager. One that trusted you, one that loved you. All this complication just to gain access to our vault, just to get your hand on that little piece of junk" Peter paused as he smirked at Kate who sported a pissed off look "Turn it over go ahead, there's a scrap on the back where it used to say made in China" Peter taunted her. Even Laura couldn't help but smile at what she was hearing.

"You're lying" Kate said in denial.

"I admit, I have a tendency to exaggerate things but in this case the truth is so much more fun" He told her and Laura could tell he was enjoying how much this pissed off the blonde woman. "Oh, I'm sorry sweetheart. That little pendant is just a physical object to focus on, it's training wheels. Talia used it to teach Laura, I tried to use it to teach Derek" Peter explained telling her the truth.

A loud howl was heard throughout the vault before Kate pulled Derek towards her forcefully.

"Is this real?" Kate asked desperately grabbing the boy by his neck. "Tell me if this is real" She demanded causing Laura to take a step forward wanting to help Derek but Peter simply put an arm out to stop her.

Derek ignored her question, he was more worried about Scott and the others at the moment "Didn't you hear that, that was Scott. I just heard Scott-" Derek was cut off by Kate's outburst.

"Tell me!" She yelled at him but he shook his head.

"I don't know and I don't care!" He told her as he pushed her away grabbing Laura's hand before they rushed off out of the vault and towards where Scott and the pack where.

Laura and Derek finally made it to where Scott was, they both saw the Berserkers closing in on them.

Derek told her to stay out as he ran towards the Berserkers and started to fight them. One of the Berserkers shoved him to the ground and that was when Laura decided to weigh in on the action.

She ran towards one of them and jumped on its back extending her claws as she tried to find a weak spot on the creature but it was no use. The Berserker pushed her up against the lockers and she started to find it hard to breath as it slammed her back into the lockers but luckily Derek came and shoved the creature off of her and helped her up, both of them immediately going back to fight them.

Laura didn't pay attention to what was happening to Derek as he continued to fight, he was starting to transform back into his older self.

She ran at one of the Berserkers and slashed her claws against the chest of it hoping to do some damage as she dodged its arm as it tried to smack her out of the way. She finally found a weak spot as it tilted its head back and she took her chance and raised her arm in the air before bringing it up to the Berserker and slashing its neck causing it to drop on the ground dead. Scott and the others looked towards her shocked as they could barely fight one of those things let alone kill it.

Just as she turned to the other which was still fighting Derek a loud howl echoed through the school and the remaining Berserker fled leaving Derek and Laura with Scott and the others.

"Derek?" Scott called out to the man who was stood next to the girl, their backs facing them.

Laura looked at Derek shocked as he was now fully transformed back to his old self. He turned around to face Scott his eyes flashing a bright golden colour as he did.

After the pack met back up with Lydia and Stiles who discovered that Peter got robbed, they all started to head home their separate ways.

Laura was stood next to Derek as Scott hopped on his Bike with Kira heading out of the parking lot and Stiles started to climb into his Jeep.

"You coming?" Stiles asked the younger girl who had a hold of Derek's arm feeling a sense of familiarity and safety which comforted her in her Father's absence.

"Maybe she'll be better of with me" Derek answered for her and he could see the uncertainty forming in Stiles eyes "I can teach her control better than you can plus I can speak Spanish...can you?" Derek raised an eyebrow to see if Stiles would dare challenge him.

"N-no. Fine, she can stay with you. But I'll be checking up on her" Stiles sighed as he gave in but acted as if it was his idea as he didn't want to admit defeat.

"Do you guys need a ride?" He asked the pair but he got his answer as Derek pulled out a set of car keys pressing a small button and at the same time a small beep went off alerting them
that a car had just been unlocked. "Right" He said as he closed his door and drove off into the night.

Derek looked down at Laura who continued to look up at him in amazement. She was still wondering how he changed from a teenage boy to this.

"I'm just as confused as you are" He said as if he could read her thoughts. "Come on, let's get you something to eat" He told her as he placed a hand on her shoulder steering her into the direction of his car causing her to perk up at the mention of food.
